Getting Started

As I've been helping people get ready to go to various places in the world, there have been lots of questions about how to cook overseas. I would like to post some simple recipes for these friends to help them prepare "yummy" dishes for their family and friends. I will begin with some of the basic recipes we've talked about at my house. If you need a specific recipe, post a request in the comments. Thanks. Linda

Aunt Linda- Yeah! Mom just sent me this as I have been needing help figuring out meals to cook here. I sent out an email to some friends and got some great ideas but always looking for more. I am still figuring out what is available here...I find new things all the time but a lot of the things I used every day in the states are not here. Like all the canned soups, like cream of mushroom, etc.! Any meat but chicken is a rarity around here so that is a bit of a change and I am learning to use the pressure cooker.:) It is fast! I did find at the newcomers cookbook(at least parts of it) on the FPO cd so that was a great find! I'll be back and when I think of something I would like to have I'll definitely be here asking for ideas!! Thanks!-Kara

Hi Linda,

I found your blog from Joy Helgren's. Your recipes are great! Thanks for sharing them. I'm a former MK and still cook nearly all from scratch - and you've given me lots of great ideas!
